		Martindale-Hubbell		Nationwide attorney locator searches by practice specialty and geographical area. Offers extensive personal and firm profiles, probably the best currently available on the Web for most attorneys. This is the place to start if you have not yet begun looking for an attorney.
		West’s Legal Directory		Martindale-Hubbell’s chief competition. Individual lawyer profiles are sparse by comparison with MH, but the database is probably comparable in size. Unfortunately, MH and West do not share listings, so you may find lawyers on West that who show up on MH, and vice versa.
		Local Lawyer Referral Services		The American Bar Association provides a directory of lawyer referral services in every state, giving you a number to call for referral to lawyers in your state or city with the expertise you need. Lawyers listed with these referral services agree to provide a half-hour free consultation in order to determine what kind of further assistance you may require.
		Legal Services for Low Income Clients		The American Bar Association provides a directory of free or low-cost legal services agencies in every state, which serve those who are financially unable to pay for necessary legal help.
